My Soap Closet is a collection of handmade soaps created to meet the needs of
gals and guys fighting the elements of time, weather and plain hard work. I spent a lot of
time “tweaking” the recipes to reach the cleansing, lathering, bubbling, and highly
conditioning qualities of each piece using only high grade vegetable oils. In creating these
soaps, my first priority was to cleanse the body without using chemical detergents and for
my skin to be in better condition after each use.
My soaps are nothing fancy, just a great handmade product. My idea of a great soap is one
that makes good scents, lots of suds and conditioning lather! You’ll find no "weighted"
fillers such as clays, minerals, emulsifiers, protein conditioners, artificial colorants, salts or
preservatives in my soap. My soap is handmade in small batches as needed to keep up with
demand. Each bar will vary in weight with the minimum being 2 ounces because each is
“rough cut”…with a knife…by me! There is no fancy packaging or “fancy names” so if
you find yourself enjoying something in particular….. be sure to save your ingredient
label! I use essential oils and only approved quality fragrance oils for Cold Process
soaping. All soaps sell for $1.20 an ounce.
You may already know, but just in case, “Cottage Crafted Soap” should be kept out of
standing or running water if you wish to enjoy the "full life" of the bar. A good hand made
bar of soap, which is kept dry between uses, will last quite well thus should always be
treated as a good investment. High quality "Cottage Crafted" soap is more cost effective
than using a commercially made product that "strips" the natural oils and moisture from the
skin.
For those that have more traditional tastes, I do make "Nearly Castile Soap" consisting of
80% Olive Oil, 10% coconut or babassu oil, and 10% castor. My 80% Castile bars are most
often left in their pure state... meaning no scent nor color.. so they will not be chalk white
as Pure Castile should always be! However for special occasions I will make scented and
colored "Nearly Castile" ... such as for a baby shower! I enjoy filling special request orders!
Please keep in mind I need a minimum 6 to 9 weeks notice! Soap has to dry of excess water!
All available soaps for sale will vary as I cater to special requests for special
occasions; making what I can using oils readily available "on hand" . More often
than not all available soaps will be in a state of "limited supply" because I use no
preservatives. Quality is the foremost property of my "Cottage Crafted" soaps.
Scents and recipes will always be a reflection of my preferences while at the same
time keeping my customers in mind. For inquiries as to soap quantities and
